Where to look for cannabis seeds with a high cannabis content
Cultivation and processing of cannabis containing increased amounts of cannabis is a very profitable activity. According to American and Canadian estimates, European varieties containing 1-3% CBD can theoretically produce about $37,000 per hectare. With a CBD content of up to 6%, the return on investment increases to almost $225,000, and up to $ 450,000.
to 12%.
It is important to distinguish immediately that marijuana and medical cannabis are not the same. In particular, during the round table "Cannabinoid therapy", the head of the company, who created drugs on the basis of non-drug cannabinoids in the EU claimed that "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wt0xdxCpIk">If the content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) above 1%, the drugs stop working. The therapeutic effect of other cannabinoids is’extinguished by the’action of THC. Therefore, this material will focus on the types of cannabis in which the amount of psychoactive THC is insignificant, while at the same time the percentage of cannabidiol is sufficient to ensure that the plant material has a clearly visible therapeutic effect.
So if you are interested in certified technical cannabis seeds with a high cannabis content (CBD), it makes no sense to look for them in the EU. In the database of plants allowed for cultivation in the European Union there are no registered varieties of cannabis with high content of CBD, and European breeders have virtually no incentives to develop such hybrids, as currently the restriction for European countries is the amount of tetrahydrocannabinol, not exceeding 0.2%.
European technical hemp varieties are developed and registered for cultivation in order to obtain maximum seed yield or fiber volume. This work is carried out primarily to serve the sectors of the economy associated with the historically established traditions of cannabis farming on the continent and the already formed areas of modern development of industries that have been reviving since the late 90s of the twentieth century (products, cosmetic, construction, textile, biocomposite, energy, zoobusiness, etc.).
Direct correlation between THC and CBD
With the rapid growth of the global market for cannabis, European breeders have only in recent years drawn attention to the need to select plants containing increased amounts of non-drug-free cannabinoids. Since the content of CBD is directly proportional to THC in the plant, and in Europe the limit of tetrahydrocannabinol is limited to 0.2%, the breeding base itself has a relatively low percentage of cannabidiol in its composition. In addition, the increased attention to the development of varieties with the maximum amount of seeds and fibre until recently did not imply the task of increasing and stabilizing a significant amount of cannabidiol in the new varieties. That is, European breeders had to fight against stereotypes for a long time and, most importantly, to prepare the basis for the creation of therapeutic varieties of technical hemp.
It is precisely for this reason that the European seed market contains seeds with a high CBD content, produced by marijuana seed cans, which themselves are confusing to the consumer and have no therapeutic effect for the reasons mentioned on the above Round Table. It should also be borne in mind that this seed material is sold mainly as collectibles and that such varieties have not undergone any registration procedure in the relevant EU regulations. That is, there is no guarantee how much exactly cannabidiola is in the widely advertised cannabis varieties of marijuana, and among other things, as either the quality or stability of the seed.
Varieties created in the USA and Canada
While several high-technology cannabis varieties have been developed in the economically developed countries of North America, which are practically in line with European THC limits, American and Canadian breeders do not consider the registration of these varieties in the EU to be economically viable (the registration procedure itself is a long and expensive process that requires significant investment by North American breeders). Among other things, in Canada and the United States, breeders make excellent money by bringing to the market varieties of cannabis that are more appropriate to grow in greenhouses/enclosed spaces, and they are not yet interested in creating hybrids grown on thousands of hectares of land.
In other words, investing in the development and/or registration of technical hemp varieties with high CBD content that meet EU certification standards and market needs is considered unacceptable to North American breeders, despite the profits currently made from the sale of finished products containing CBD.
Profitability
Cultivation and processing of cannabis containing increased amounts of cannabis is a very profitable activity. In fact, therefore, individual cannabis growers in the EU are actually working as marijuana producers, acquiring and cultivating uncertified seeds with a high content of CBD, and engaging in essentially illegal plant growing operations that are competitive in today's fast-growing cannabinoid market.
Ukraine
Technical hemp varieties with a therapeutic focus have been developed by our country's breeders, which demonstrate their extreme effectiveness in the treatment of neurodegenerative, oncological and other serious diseases, including chronic diseases. Profitability of their cultivation is no less than the one considered by North American experts and the basic figures were voiced during the round table "Cannabinoid therapy". For our country, the main problem of the impossibility to use therapeutic properties is not the lack of varieties inherent in Europe, but rather the regulatory framework that does not allow the use of the therapeutic properties of technical hemp in Ukraine.
How they profit from the market rush
In order to remain competitive in the fast-growing cannabis market, Swiss, American, Canadian and Chinese hemp growers are looking for uncertified, but with maximum yield, CBD seeds, usually getting them from marijuana breeders or seed banks that take off their responsibility for what they sell. Most of them sell unstabilized hybrids on the market, or do not understand plants that do not have a therapeutic effect at all.
Association Commentary on"Ukrainian Technical Hemp
In view of the fact that at the moment the drug-free cannabinoids have become the main trend of the hemp market, and producers from all over the world are profiting from the lack of certified varieties of technical hemp with a therapeutic orientation in Europe, there are no established breeding schemes and there are regulatory restrictions for the production of varieties with a high content of CBD – the European hemp market is actually stalled in its development. Structural weaknesses reduce Europe's potential contribution to the global revival of cannabis production, and Europe's business position in global cannabis production is being lost.
In view of the fact that the main export market for cannabis products of Ukraine is the European market, we can say with a significant degree of certainty that if for a fairly short period of time the regulatory framework of our country regarding the possibility of using therapeutic possibilities of technical cannabis will not be regulated, developed in the national breeders of the variety of
Thus the main export market for cannabis products of Ukraine is the European market, we can say with a significant degree of certainty that if the regulatory framework of our country regarding the possibility of using therapeutic possibilities of technical cannabis will not be regulated, developed in the national breeders of the variety of technical cannabis will become a property of the European, Asian . In the same case, if national breeders consider it impossible to continue their further work on the territory of our country, Ukraine will lose its intellectual resource capable of creating exclusive products, which have no analogues in the world. In fact, the country will forever lose its own opportunities to form a national market of pharmaceutical products made of hemp raw materials of local production and for a very long period of time will become dependent on the imposition of poor quality pharmacological drugs based on synthetic cannabidiol.
