Italian construction companies are switching to technologies involving the use of bonded concrete
Modern construction companies are increasingly focused on the transition to environmentally friendly materials and technologies, where various components of hemp, as well as their derivatives, show themselves quite efficiently. It is no secret that the various components of the hemp stalk can be used in different variations for both external and internal construction work. Increasingly, environmental friendliness in construction is associated with the use of hemp plants.
The leadership of one of the largest construction companies in Italy, Senini, decided to focus on environmentally friendly construction technologies, which are based on the biological properties of hemp. In particular, the possibility of using both “flooded” bonded concrete and bonded blocks is being actively considered. Such development trends are positive not only for the development of the industrial hemp breeding sector, but also for the Italian construction industry, which actively supports the trend towards using environmentally efficient technologies and reducing costs associated with the use of cheap plant materials, eliminating the need for logistics and deep processing costs.
The fact is that while traditional construction is considered one of the sectors that is the most polluting, and in Italy they account for 40% of the total CO2 emissions, eco-construction of hemp based on lime is carbon negative, i.e. during the production of bonded concrete or bonded carbon blocks less is emitted into the atmosphere than hemp consumes in the process of its life. Studies of the Polytechnic University of Milan show that hemp plant, from which 1 ton of dried stem will be obtained, can consume up to 325 kg of hydrocarbon, and up to 60 kg of carbon compounds can be released during the processing of this production volume.
Paolo Ronchetti, Senini's Sales and Marketing Director, argues that understanding the potential for hemp technology in building block production has begun with the ISO 14001 environmental certificate, which defines a set of technical standards for environmental management. The company realized that the desire for maximum environmental friendliness should begin directly with the modification of the technological process of production, and here technologies using hemp raw materials are the best suited.

The company aims to maximize the involvement in its production of modern technology and the modernization of production processes. For example, in 2015, Senini received a patent for the technology for the production of building mixtures based on microorganisms that are added to bone concrete. The principle of action of microorganisms in the mixture is similar to the effect of probiotics on the human body and in this case is aimed at reducing the time of "ripening" of the finished hemp mixture. Also, the technological process of forming the necessary contours of the finished bone block implies the presence of forming frames, which according to the patent should be made of wood, which meets the EU standards for eco-production.
Environmentally friendly building materials based on hemp, as well as technologies for its gentle use, have quite a positive reputation in Italy and today Senini plans to conquer the European market. In particular, in Switzerland, the company plans to build the first objects using hemp technology in 3 years, which are designed to become the center of a healthy lifestyle for everyone.

Given the relevance and prospects of construction topics in modern hemp breeding, within the framework of the “ Hemp University ”, it is planned to hold a round table on the topic “ Hemp raw materials - technologies for its use in construction, production of biocomposite materials and furniture ”.
