Italian recipe for hemp biocomposite
The technologies developed by Italian
entrepreneurs for the use of food and dairy industry waste will be further used
for the production of high-quality hemp biocomposite materials with high added
value.
On the pages of the specialized electronic
edition of national hemp growers, the editors have recently quite regularly
posted materials related to the use of various hemp ingredients used for the
production of bioplastics or biocomposite materials. This high-tech application
of hemp raw materials is regarded as an extremely promising area of modern hemp
growing, so we are happy to provide any information on these topics for review
by our respected readers and listeners. Not ignored by the editors, which began
6 months ago, is an Italian startup based on the production of bioplastics
created from food waste, such as kiwi peel and expired dairy products with the
addition of hemp components as the main ingredient. That is why the project of
Plasmilk, which is being implemented on the market of the Apennine Peninsula,
may be of interest to representatives of the national hemp industry.
Entrepreneur Francesco Borgomeo purchased
the Naco di Cisterna plant for the production of chemical additives for boilers
in order to transform it into a Green Economy company, Plasta Rei. As conceived
by Mr. Borgomeo, hemp biocomposite materials will be produced at the production
facilities of the enterprise acquired by him, for which an application has been
filed for obtaining the international patent “Plasmilk”.
“We want to produce hemp biocomposites,”
explains Mr. Borgomeo, “that will not pollute the environment. Our technology
implies not only the possibility of reusing the produced bioplastics, made
using exclusively natural raw materials, but also the complete decomposition of
the final products after the expiration of their service life, without the
possibility of negative consequences during their disposal.”
Fabio Mazzarella, general manager of
Plasta Rei, emphasizes that “The bioplastics produced include such natural
ingredients as milk and its derivatives, kiwi fruit and hemp. The idea of the
production process is to use expired milk or yoghurts remaining in the region,
waste from the food industry, as well as large-scale distribution, and produce
new products from them - biocomposite materials made using hemp. To implement
this idea, it is fundamental to use the latest technologies developed and also
implemented within the framework of Plasmilk.
According to Mr. Borgomeo “The basis of
the company's philosophy is the resuscitation of the capacities of a regional
chemical company for the production of demanded goods on the market, which
involve their reuse, as well as the possibility of recycling after the end of
the service life of the end products made from them, without any load on
environment".
Commentary of the specialists of the
Association “Ukrainian Industrial Hemp”
Francesco Borgomeo is no stranger to this
type of green economy technology initiative. The entrepreneur specializes in
acquiring bankrupt enterprises for nothing during a crisis and turning them
into successful projects based on the implementation of the latest
technologies. It can be assumed that the technologies developed by Italian
entrepreneurs for the use of food and dairy industry waste will be further used
for the production of high-quality hemp biocomposite materials with high added
value.
