Israeli College will issue a degree in medical hemp breeding

The first college in Israel has approved an academic program on the basis of which it will be able to assign a bachelor's degree in hemp medicine. The management of “Max Stern Yezreel Valley College” has announced that new entrants will be able to earn a bachelor’s degree in humanities specializing in the use of cannabis for medical purposes. In particular, in an open communication to the media, the college leadership said that the newly created program will be "launched" in the next school year.

According to Dr. Efrat Barel, Program Manager, “The goal of the program is to prepare graduates for new professions in the field of hemp use for medical purposes, as well as providing opportunities for gaining professional knowledge to work effectively in this field. An extensive educational base will allow graduates to study all the necessary aspects of modern hemp breeding, and their professional work as a skilled workforce will bring additional value to the entire industry that legally works with psychoactive hemp. ”

According to Yitzhak Harpaz, president of Max Stern Yezreel Valley College, “the hemp industry today is the same as the cyber industry 10 years ago. Israel needs specialists and can take leading positions in the international hemp market. Hemp breeding in Israel is already characterized by many new enterprises and technologies. It is already clear that the economic potential of the industry can reach tens of billions of dollars. We are proud that our specialists were the first in the country to develop an academic specialization in the extremely promising field of hemp use for medical purposes. ”

The Israeli scientist Rafael Meshulam is recognized as one of the first who identified individual elements of hemp, and was also able to organize their research. The use of hemp for medical purposes has been regulated in the country since the 90s of the last century. Currently, the industry associated with the use of the therapeutic properties of hemp is one of the most prosperous industries of the Promised Land. As of the beginning of 2019, hundreds of hectares of psychoactive hemp are legally grown in the country under “controlled conditions”, millions of investments are made in this sector of the economy, and the raw materials grown by more than 100 enterprises are processed into drugs, cosmetics or food products with significant therapeutic effect.

Information on the therapeutic properties of industrial hemp, as well as the use of cosmetics, food, dietary supplements for the treatment of severe, including chronic diseases in Ukraine, can be obtained by reading the materials of the round tables “ Cannabinoid therapy ”, as well as “ Nutrition and hemp” ”, Held within the walls of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine in the framework of the joint project“ Hemp University ”. The next course of students of the “ Hemp University ” will be recruited for training in October-November 2019. During the second day of the “ Hemp University ” a round table will be held “ Hemp raw materials - technologies for its use in construction, production of biocomposite materials and furniture ”.
