A subsidiary of the world's largest food manufacturer, Nestlé, is launching products that include drug-free cannabinoids on the European market. Nestlé Health Science, together with the American company Geocann, is launching broad spectrum CBD soft gels with a special drip system known as VESIsorb. The first CBD product launched in Europe is a soft gel capsule with a scientifically proven cannabidiol to betacaryophlene ratio, derived from a broad spectrum hemp plant extract.
Geocann CEO and Founder Jesse Lopez said in a statement to the media that “The first large batch of CBD soft gels was produced in Switzerland in September 2020 from hemp grown in Slovenia. We are extremely proud to expand our relationship with the Nestlé brand in Europe following our success in marketing our products to the US market last year. ”
Geocann has completed several toxicology studies on its products, the results of which will be published in 2020 as part of the FDA GRAS notification and a new application for hemp “Food Products” of the EU.

Geocann is a cannabis products manufacturer (Colorado, USA) with development, sales, distribution and marketing offices in the American states of Illinois (Chicago), California (Corona) and Switzerland (Bar). Geocann has applied VESIsorb technology to a wide range of products, including soft gel and hard capsules, functional foods (gummies), beverages, powder systems, tinctures, sublingual sprays and topical formulations.
Nestlé Health Science, headquartered in Switzerland, owns the Garden of Life brand, which launched a line of broad-spectrum CBD fluids, softgels and sprays in US retail stores in August 2019.
VESIsorb is a delivery system developed by the Swiss company Vesifact (a subsidiary of the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich). VESIsorb is described as a self-collecting colloidal droplet delivery system. VESIsorb technology was introduced in the United States about 16 years ago, first with CjQ10 and then adapted for other QH ingredients like ubiquinol, resveratrol and cannabidiol. Studies have shown that VESIsorb is effective in enhancing the absorption and bioavailability of herbal CBD extract compared to conventional hemp extract. Specifically, the study authors argue that “A self-emulsifying drug delivery system (including cannabidiol) based on VESIsorb technology offers a new, well-tolerated and effective oral delivery system for cannabinoids. CBD has a number of health benefits, but research evidence suggests that if no dedicated cannabinoid delivery technologies are used, the bioavailability of standard CBD formulations is relatively low. For example, hemp extract diluted with oil can lead to a significant decrease in the therapeutic properties of the product obtained by ordinary mixing. ”
