NHL initiates research aimed at studying the effect of CBD on the health of professional athletes
In Ukraine, there is also experience in treating professional sports injuries using medical properties of a technical therapeutic cannabis. Research is based on the inexpediency of extracting green mass of a plant, and the possibility of enhancing the biologically active properties of a technical therapeutic cannabis using natural components known to medicine and complex treatment of the body with an ensemble of cannabinoids that significantly enhance the therapeutic properties of cannabisa. The demonstrated results show that in the case of using preparations made using the above method, not only the performance of existing athletes improves significantly, but a significant amount of sports / occupational injuries are treated, including the natural pain that persists in a natural way.
On the pages of the specialized electronic edition of Ukrainian growers, attention was previously focused on the fact that “ CBD helps to restore injuries among athletes, ” explained “ Why in the next few years dietary supplements based on drug-free cannabinoids will be actively used in professional sports .” Despite the fact that the largest sports leagues in the United States at the moment with distrust relate to the possibility of the legal use of drug-free cannabinoids to improve athletes' testimony and even more so to the treatment of occupational diseases / injuries, some changes in attitudes to this issue are evident.
American researchers are looking for a link between the effects of drug-free cannabinoids on the body and the treatment of various diseases associated with concussions in professional athletes. The NHL Alumni Association (NHLAA) has become one of the sponsors of research aimed at studying the effects of cannabidiol (CBD) on occupational injuries received by players during their stay in the hockey league.
Story
Until recently, Darren McCarthy (Darren McCarty, an outstanding player in the past of the Detroit Red Wings hockey club) and director of VEDA Sport Marvin Degon (Darwin McCarty) regularly acted with the initiative of using drug-free cannabinoids to treat occupational diseases of NHL athletes. ). Over the past few years, they have been actively attracting public attention in the United States and Canada to the need to use cannabinoids in the safe and effective treatment of chronic pain in professional athletes.
Modernity
At the moment, representatives of the professional hockey league are the driver among the professional sports associations of North America in matters related to the legal possibility of using the therapeutic properties of cannabis for the treatment of professional injuries received by hockey players during a sports career. Currently, 28 of the 31 teams of the national hockey league (NHL) are located in the administrative-territorial units of the United States and Canada, where the use of cannabis is allowed with minimal risk of any administrative penalties. In general, League functionaries differentiate their attitude towards the use of hemp products (including those used for recreational purposes) to any other narcotic or psychotropic substances in the course of a sports career.
This approach contrasts sharply with the attitude towards hemp functionaries in Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Football League (NFL), who take a much more rigid view of the possibility of using hemp or products from it as during a competitive process , and for the purpose of treatment, received during the career of a professional career injuries. The players of the three professional associations of athletes listed above are strictly forbidden to use the therapeutic properties of cannabis, despite the fact that 82 percent of the teams of the highest league (including the NHL) are geographically located where cannabis is legalized as a recreational tool or allowed for medical use. This policy of zero tolerance to the possibility of using the therapeutic properties of cannabis to improve the physiological indicators of athletes or their treatment in some cases leads to scandals that occasionally flare up in the sports environment and impose disciplinary or disqualification of players that do not hide the need or desire to use therapeutic properties plants to improve their vital signs.
Despite this, the “chorus of voices” of speakers for the possibility of using the therapeutic properties of cannabis in professional sports is growing. One of the first manifestations of this kind was the recent interview with David Stern, the NBA Commissioner NBA, who emphasized that hemp should be removed from the list of prohibited drugs. In particular, according to a functionary of the National Basketball Association, "There is no doubt that cannabis used for medical purposes must be completely legal."
The study, the direction of studying the influence of drug-free cannabinoids on athletes of the National Hockey League is a vivid example of the fact that the point of view, at least in this kind of professional sport, is reversed to that which prevailed several years ago. In particular, this is evidenced by the initiative of the NHL Alumni Association, supported by Canopy Growth and Neeka Health. For example, an agreement was signed, according to which, if the study being conducted reveals a positive relationship between the use of drug-free cannabinoids and the alleviation of the symptoms of occupational injuries among the participants of the experiment, Canopy Growth undertakes to fund further experiments on this topic. The results of the experiments will continue to be crucial in the preparation of professional athletes who need to be provided with an alternative to painkillers, with the effect of rapid addiction, usually prescribed by doctors during the treatment of this kind of problems. In addition, during the experiments, the effects of drug-free cannabinoids on various states associated with concussion - depression, dementia, post-traumatic stress disorder, etc. will be studied.
According to neurosurgeon Charles Tator, “In the course of my medical practice, I have to observe many athletes who experience chronic pain from previous injuries to them in the course of their sports career. Health professionals specializing in professional sports injuries are optimistic that cannabinoids can alleviate the suffering of our patients or improve their quality of life and bring the state of professional athletes to a physiological norm. ”
