The legalization of medical cannabis reduces the number of opium addicts
In the states, allowing the opening of cannabis pharmacies, there is a relative decrease in both opioid and opioid overdose deaths, compared with states that do not have a system of cannabis pharmacies.
According to a study published by the National Bureau of Economic Development (USA), the availability of psychoactive hemp in specialized pharmacies statistically linked to indicators such as reduction of dependence on opiates and death from overdose.
Researchers at the RAND Corporation and the University of California, Irvine evaluated the adoption of laws "On medical cannabis," with data about your visits to your doctor about drug addiction (in the period from 1992 to 2102 years) and drug overdose deaths (data for the years 1999-2013).
The authors write: "In the states, allowing the opening of cannabis pharmacies, there is a relative decrease in both opioid and opioid overdose deaths, compared with states that do not have a system of cannabis pharmacies." In particular, the decline in the abuse of opiates was recorded among women older than 40 years.
