It appears that Pfizer, Inc. is looking to enter the global cannabis industry by focusing on a variety of ailments based on the medicinal properties of the therapeutically active constituents of the cannabis plant. Representatives of the above-mentioned American multinational pharmaceutical company announced that they plan to buy the biopharmaceutical corporation "Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc." (based in San Diego, USA), which researches and develops cannabinoid-based drugs for patients with gastrointestinal disorders. In particular, an American multinational pharmaceutical company signed an agreement with a biopharmaceutical corporation, according to which Pfizer will acquire all the securities of Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc. at a price of $ 100 per share as part of the above transaction, which in total amounts to about $ 6.7 billion.

The already virtually finished cannabinoid-type pharmacological preparation of the corporation "Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc." is “Olorinab”, a full CB2 receptor agonist that is targeted at treating patients with diseases affecting the stomach and intestines. Specialists of "Arena Pharmaceuticals, Inc." develop the above-mentioned drug based on therapeutically active elements of hemp, focusing on visceral pain associated with gastrointestinal disorders. Representatives of Pfizer, Inc are particularly interested in researching the acquired structure on developments related to the treatment of various types of autoimmune diseases using therapeutically active elements of the hemp plant, including the possibilities of treating coronavirus infection with the help of drug-free cannabinoids.
