Hemp Construction Trends in Economically Developed Countries
Technologies that presuppose the achievement of the RE 2020 goals, which predetermine the use of hemp wood blocks and are used not only as a construction or restoration material, but also as insulation, will be supported by the relevant government agencies, including financially.

The Minister of Comprehensive Environmental Transformations of France Barbara Pompili, after visiting the production site of the Vieille enterprise, where the official understood the peculiarities of the technological process associated with the manufacture and formation of hemp blocks, signed a check for € 100 thousand, provided by the state for the development of production facilities intended for the production of blocks made of reinforced concrete. This investment is part of an investment resource of € 2 million for the purchase of new equipment that makes hemp blocks. Installation of the aforementioned equipment will allow Vieille to increase the production of hemp blocks by five times - from 400 m² to 2000 m² per day.
According to Ms. Pompili, it is extremely promising for the construction industry as a whole to replace building materials made from fossil raw materials with similar products created on a biological basis. The highlight of the technology offered by the company "Vieille" is the possibility of using hemp wood blocks for the construction of new buildings and structures, reconstruction, or as an extremely effective insulation. Particularly pleasant, according to the minister, is the fact that bone blocks contain about 84% of hemp ingredients grown by French agricultural producers.
During a conversation with reporters, the Minister of Comprehensive Environmental Transformations of France focused on the fact that “having seen the successful use of resources for the introduction of environmental technologies into industrial production, she made a decision to increase funding for similar projects, from € 15 million to € 22 million.” ...
Madame Minister, who is responsible for the “ecology of progress” in the French government, recalled the “contribution” of the construction sector, which is from 7 to 8% of greenhouse gas emissions. This is the second largest producer of carbon dioxide in the country and the first consumer of energy, therefore technologies that presuppose the achievement of the "RE 2020" goals predetermining the use of hemp blocks and used not only as construction or restoration material, but also as insulation, will be supported by the relevant government agencies , including financially.
According to Cedric Gervais, the representative of Vieille, if in 2020 the company sold hemp blocks for the construction of several dozen buildings, then after the installation of the appropriate equipment, after a short time, the production capacity of the enterprise will make it possible to produce such a number of wood blocks, which is enough for the construction several hundred and maybe thousands of buildings annually. The use of a hemp plant as the main raw material already now presupposes the establishment of good business contacts with agricultural producers who will be able to grow large areas of industrial hemp in the interests of the enterprise.

The environmental regulations “RE 2020”, introduced in 2022, are adopted in France instead of “RT 2012” in order to reduce the impact of the construction sector of the country's economy on the environment. Production facilities for the manufacture of hemp wood blocks are created not only in France , but also in Belgium , Austria , as well as a number of other EU countries .
In our country, the owners of one of the factories for the primary processing of hemp trusts are considering the possibility of using a hemp fire for the purpose of making bone blocks. Apparently, by the end of 2021, the Ukrainian market may have an offer of waste blocks manufactured at modern national production facilities from Ukrainian raw materials.
Considering the tendencies according to which the government structures of at least the United States and France are investing financial resources in the development of technologies aimed at using building materials made from hemp raw materials to replace traditional building materials made from fossil raw materials, it is worth informing the relevant departments of our country about such technologies at least so that they are in the field of view of the officials responsible for the modern construction of Ukraine.
