Therapeutic features of cosmetic preparations based on natural drug-free cannabinoids

The key postulate that significantly affects the gray, and often illegal market of cannabinoid cosmetics not only in Ukraine, but also in most EU countries, is the decisions of January and April 2021, according to which herbal ingredients were included in the Cosmetic ingredient database (CosIng). cannabidiol (CBD) and respectively cannabigerol (CBG).

Research shows that the skin contains a significant number of receptors that make up the endocannabinoid system of the human body. They play an important role in regulating the physiology of the skin, therefore their imbalance is associated with various skin conditions. In connection with the above, modulation of endocannabinoid receptors in the skin with cosmetic preparations made on the basis of natural cannabinoids is an extremely promising method of treating various skin diseases.

Given the period of development of new formulations of cosmetic preparations, their registration, as well as the "launch" of various kinds of marketing campaigns aimed at promoting the created samples of cosmetics containing natural drug-free cannabinoids, we can say that Europe is only now on the verge of a boom new lines of cosmetic products, which will include the above two natural drug-free cannabinoids.

In the near future, the following cosmetic preparations should appear on the market, which will include natural cannabidiol and cannabigerol: creams for moisturizing, exfoliating and cleansing the skin. In addition, there will be local products for the treatment of arthritis, osteoarthritis, dermatitis, acne or other pathologies that destroy the protective layer of the skin. In addition to the fact that these products have a significant healing and healing effect, they have powerful analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antibacterial and dermatological properties, facilitating the course of various types of skin diseases without the side effects that drugs can cause. In addition, unlike synthetic cannabinoids that are actively used in cosmetic products, when applied to the skin, no physiological or psychological negative effect can be obtained. Among other things, it should be borne in mind that cosmetic preparations containing natural cannabidiol and cannabigerol in their therapeutic characteristics will be close to topical agents that are used to treat problems with muscles, joints and skin. 

The main properties with which cosmetic preparations, which will include the two above-mentioned drug-free cannabinoids, are:

•  solving problems with acne;

•  local pain relief;

•  treatment of eczema;

•  realization of the problem of dry skin;

•  leveling the signs of aging;

•  significant improvement in skin condition with acne, seborrhea and atopic dermatitis;

•  solution of other problems with the upper integument of the human body.

Cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol are non-psychoactive compounds in cannabis that have numerous therapeutic properties that are extremely beneficial to the skin, so they are useful in the production of cosmetics and topical products (ointments, patches, etc.). Specifically, the World Health Organization officially states that CBD is non-addictive, being safe for use by people who need it. 

Experiments carried out by specialists of the specialized association of national cannabis growers indicate that in addition to the above-mentioned skin problems by our colleagues from Hemp Consulting , cosmetic preparations made using natural cannabidiol and cannabigerol effectively work against bacteria and microorganisms that affect the skin. In particular, a test batch of cosmetic products made using the leaves and inflorescences of therapeutic hemp of the therapeutic orientation of the "Mriya" variety showed at times a stunning effect associated not only with skin restoration, but also with the treatment of a number of diseases of the upper integument of the human body, which representatives of the test group were observed practically immediately after the application of a cosmetic product made either with the use of the leaves and inflorescences of plants of the aforementioned variety in the formulation, or with the use of an organo-mineral complex based on humic substances that enhances the therapeutic properties of the plant.
