Therapeutic properties of hemp terpenoids

heading_title

In the case of using hemp raw materials without exposure to any chemical agents or changes in standard physical conditions, it is advisable to use the plant as food, the active component of biological or feed additives, cosmetics made on a natural basis, terpenoids most effectively affect the human body, while providing a significant therapeutic effect.

Science is already well aware that various substances contained in cannabis have a significant therapeutic effect on mammals, including the human body. Doctors in the economically developed countries of the world actively use the “ensemble effect”, when several cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenoids, phenols, and other components of cannabis strengthen the therapeutic effect of each other extremely effectively to cope with a number of serious, including chronic diseases.

In a significant number of cases, the scientific world does not yet know which particular component of the “green mass” of a plant most effectively “works” with respect to a particular disease. That is why in a number of states, experiments are constantly being conducted aimed at studying the therapeutic effect on the human body of certain elements of the plant.

This material concerns the study of the effectiveness of the anti-inflammatory properties of terpenoids, as well as the possibility of their use as an effective therapeutic agent.

It is hardly interesting to non-specialists that the procedure according to which the therapeutic properties of terpenoids derived from technical hemp were studied. We focus on the fact that samples for experiments rich in terpenoids were obtained from cannabisa, entered in the registers of plant varieties of the EU (the amount of THC below 0.2%) - Hungarian Yew and French Felina and Ferimon.

The procedure of the experiment involved the preparation of three types of raw materials essential oils rich in terpenoids, which were further analyzed for their anti-inflammatory properties. The results of the experiments suggest that:

- different varieties of cannabis exhibit different composition of terpenoids (in the course of the experiments about 50 known terpenoids known to science were identified);

- essential oils, rich in terpenoids, have anti-inflammatory and antinociceptive (analgesic) activity, which significantly vary depending on their composition;

- terpenoids showed temporary immunosuppression, which suggests that they are effectively used to relieve acute inflammatory processes.

Commentary of the Association "Ukrainian technical hemp"

Terpenoids are derived from terpenes. The structural features of the molecules of terpenoids lead to their noticeable difference from other organic compounds by increased lability, a tendency to isomeration, cyclization and polymerization. Isomerization and transformation often takes place under mild conditions, under the influence of light, oxygen of the air, water vapor, etc. Terpenoids give hemp plants their characteristic aroma, and it is generally accepted that they provide protection against insects harmful to cannabisa. Hemp currently identified more than 230 different terpenoids.

In our country, the features of terpenoids are being actively studied as part of research into the properties of technical hemp therapeutic orientation. It can already be stated that the maximum amount of terpenoids is concentrated in the leaves and inflorescences of the plant, which are used without any effect (extraction, temperature, pressure, etc.) on its “green mass”. In the case of using hemp raw materials without exposure to any chemical agents or changes in standard physical conditions (pressure, intensity of light flux, temperature, etc.), it is advisable to use the plant as a food product, an active component of biological or feed additives, cosmetic means manufactured on a natural basis, terpenoids most effectively affect the human body, while providing a significant therapeutic effect.
