University of the United States introduces a master's program on the use of cannabis for medical purposes
The University of Maryland in Baltimore (University of Maryland, Baltimore) can be awarded the title of "First US educational institution that officially trains specialists in the use of cannabis for medical purposes."
The master’s program initiated within the University offers students not only to learn the skills of treatment, as well as caring for patients using medicinal properties of cannabis, but also to explore the pharmacological characteristics of the plant. According to associate professor and professor at the University of Nathalie D. Eddington, “Medical cannabis is legalized in 33 of the 50 US states. Obviously, this figure will increase, stimulating the demand for qualified, well-trained personnel, who have a clear idea of how cannabis can be used for medical purposes. The master program initiated by the University is based on the thesis that it is necessary to prepare students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills for the industry with the help of educational innovations. The developed program for the study of the therapeutic properties of hemp, is the first in the United States of this kind of document. Therefore, the University can be awarded the title of “The first educational institution in the United States officially teaching specialists in the use of cannabis for medical purposes.” Training in this specialty is intended for students who have already received a bachelor's degree, planning to continue their career growth in the direction of the rapidly growing sector of the use of cannabis for medical purposes.

Information on the therapeutic properties of technical hemp, as well as the use of cosmetics, food, dietary supplements for the treatment of severe, including chronic diseases in Ukraine, can be obtained by reading the materials of the round tables “ Cannabinoid therapy ”, as well as “ Nutrition and cannabis ”, Held at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine in the framework of the joint project“ Hemp University ”. The next course of students of the Hemp University will be recruited for training in October-November 2019. During the second day of “ Hemp University ” a round table “ Hemp raw materials - technologies of its use in construction, production of biocomposite materials and furniture ” will be held.
