Mexican authorities have issued four official permission for the cultivation of hemp
At the end of 2015 the Supreme Court of Mexico ruled that the ban on the country's government to free, private consumption of psychoactive cannabis for recreational purposes is a violation of the constitution, which protects "the freedom and the individual's right to their own development." It took just a couple of weeks to reach a verdict in favor of the plaintiffs, they received from the authorities of the official permit for the cultivation and consumption of psychoactive hemp for personal use.
Since the decision of the court concerning the case related to the right only to a group of four people, prepared the Medical Service of Mexico, respectively, only four documents with a resolution on the cultivation, settled by the personal consumption of cannabis. Moreover, this resolution provides for severe restrictions on the right of use of medical cannabis, which is forbidden to use near children, pregnant women, in public places, other people, did not give their consent to the use of psychoactive cannabis with them. Of course, any form of dissemination of cannabis also remain strictly prohibited.
What is very interesting is the fact that four of the recipient does not even permit use psychoactive hemp and do not plan to use them right obtained. "Our aim was not to encourage the consumption of marijuana and the protection of the right of Mexicans to freedom of personal choice. We want to create a precedent that would give the authorities understand that consumers of medical cannabis are not criminals that threaten public order and simple and informed about the properties of cannabis by people who made a personal and rational decision to use it, for one reason or another, "says one of the participants in the trial, Juan Francisco Torres Landa.
All four of the permits for the use of psychoactive cannabis, are members of the Mexican Community protection of free and responsible consumption of Cannabis (SMART), whose goal is summarizing the Mexican Parliament to conduct cannabis reform with the main purpose of withdrawal from the market of cannabis criminal cartels.
"Our goal was not to get personal benefit, in the form of exclusive rights to use and to create a breach in the prohibition of cannabis, which will allow the country to embark on a full hemp reform, which, according to our convictions, will help society to overcome a gang of criminals and significantly improve quality of life in the country, "said another permit holder, Paul Giraud.
Over the past two weeks, the Medical Service has received about 155 letters with the requirement to deliver a similar authorization for the cultivation of other groups of citizens. Of course, one should not doubt that the Sanitary Service will reject these petitions, but the process, according to the expectations of SMART, was launched.
Despite opposition from the country's president, Enrique Pene Nieto, from the beginning of 2016, in Mexico, will be held five public debate devoted to hemp reform, which will discuss its possible effects on the society, its effect on the power of the cartels, as well as on the lives and rights of ordinary Mexicans.
