As a result, a smaller amount of coronavirus enters the body in an active form and, therefore, spreads more slowly through the body, provoking an exacerbation of diseases to which a particular person is predisposed. A group of researchers identified 13 extracts, which in their opinion are able to "modulate" receptors to counter this disease. Canadian scientists claim that the cannabis extracts they have identified have a powerful preventative effect that can significantly reduce the negative effects of coronavirus on the human body .
At the moment, carried out laboratory testing of such a method of prevention COVID-19 and obtained positive results suggest the feasibility of research on animals. In particular, a press release from the University of Lethbridge states that “certain cannabis extracts affect ACE2 and TMPRSS2 proteins. These proteins integrate into the cell membrane and represent a key gateway for the penetration of COVID-19 virus into host cells. Researchers used hemp extracts to modulate the level of these enzymes . Initial data indicate that extracts with a high content of anti-inflammatory cannabidiol can modulate ACE2 expression in COVID-19 target tissues and inhibit TMPRSS2. The results show that cannabis extracts selected by the research team can be a useful and safe supplement to COVID-19 treatment . They can be used to develop methods for the prevention of coronavirus in the form of mouthwash or throat for clinical or home use. ”
The Surasky Medical Center ( an Israeli hospital, which is one of the three largest medical centers in the country , located in Tel Aviv) has begun a study aimed at determining the capabilities of the active components of hemp , primarily cannabidiol , to slow down inflammatory processes, accompanied by worsening of patients with severe form of coronavirus and, accordingly, mitigate the symptoms of the disease. The clinical trial is not associated with any company interested in its results; it is carried out in collaboration with several hospital departments and covers several dozen patients whose symptoms remain moderate (patients are not on a mechanical ventilation device). One of the tasks of carrying out these measures is the use of the therapeutic properties of hemp for the treatment of severe forms of diseases, including COVID-19 .
