Dietary supplements used by several professional athletes, as well as military personnel performing special tasks in the area of the Operation of the Joint Forces on the territory of the Ordlo, made on the basis of the therapeutic properties of technical hemp, demonstrate excellent results. It remains just a little, to create a regulatory framework within which within the territory of our country it will be possible to use drug-free cannabinoids for industrial, scientific and medical purposes.

The pages of the profile electronic publication of Ukrainian hemp breeders have already described "The possibility of using drug-free cannabinoids in big sports ", in particular, certain aspects of the corresponding transaction between Aurora and MMA. This material will provide more detailed information on the areas of research, as well as on the results that will be further commercialized.

Athletes of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be the next group of subjects who will participate in a multi-stage clinical study of the effect of cannabidiol (CBD / CBD) on the relief of the pain that regularly occurs in mixed martial arts fights. In particular, UFC officials announced that they are actively collaborating with Canadian hemp company Aurora to study the effects of drug-free cannabinoids on the health of participating athletes.

The ongoing research will be aimed at developing a line of hemp preparations for topical use. The functionaries of the Absolute Wrestling Championship claim that the studies carried out can determine how to use, in particular, cosmetic preparations as a means of caring for the site of injury, track the recovery process, block the pain and relieve inflammation received by athletes during the fighting. Currently, 30 professional UFC fighters have signed up as a test subject, led by a research fellow at the University of Alberta and Aurora's vice president of global research and medical affairs. This group of specialists will receive practical assistance from the UFC Performance Institute research group, which is already dealing with this issue.

According to UFC Vice President Duncan French, “Working with Aurora is the best way to show us and mixed martial artists the effect of drug-free cannabinoids on MMA and professional sports in general. We want to use the achievements of science and see where new developments and technologies will lead us. Ideally, the research will provide a complete picture of how effective the drug-free cannabinoids, primarily cannabidiol, are for the health of athletes and their recovery from injuries. ”

“Our partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship is a commitment to science that will educate and promote,” says Aurora CEO Terry Booth. "We are going to work together to change the mindset of athletes and sports functionaries, improve UFC and launch the first CBD products derived from hemp, which will be supported by scientific research."

Commentary of the Ukrainian Technical Hemp Association

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is not the first professional sports league to officially register to conduct research aimed at obtaining evidence of a causal relationship between improving athletic performance after using products rich in non-drug cannabinoids. In 2018, a group of former professional basketball players announced that most NBA players, in one form or another, use substances contained in hemp during their sports career. In 2019, the National Hockey League Alumni Association announced that it was one of the sponsors of a study aimed at studying the effects of drug-free cannabinoids on 100 former hockey players who suffered brain injuries during a sports career. In May, the National Football League, which has traditionally taken a tough stance on the possibility of using cannabis-based drugs by football players, unveiled its plans to research cannabis as an anesthetic.

Despite the fact that in professional sports, the attitude to the therapeutic properties of hemp is extremely fragmentary, the use of a plant as a biologically active additive or anesthetic is extremely common in many US sports leagues. Ukraine also has something to surprise national athletes with.
