North Dakota Farmers expressed desire to participate in the development of konoplevodstva in Oregon to later return to his home state with useful experience of the new agriculture.
Oregon (USA) plans to significantly expand its program for the development of the areas under the technical hemp on its territory in 2016. In doing so, they agree to help stakeholders in the field of agriculture, farmers from North Dakota, who hope to use acquired while working in Oregon experience in the development of its own hemp business.
Oregon needed cannabis growers
By the end of 2015, to the premature collapse of the program for the cultivation of industrial hemp in August, due to the fact that the grown bushes of hemp contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in quantities exceeding the established norms of staff, 11 local farmers have received permission from the authorities to engage in konoplevodstvom. Until the moratorium on the cultivation of industrial hemp, only 9 farms had sown crops. Of these, only 3 had time to germinate, before state regulators found that common among farmers plant contain THC in amounts exceeding the limit of 0.3% of the active substances plant.
According to Lindsay Ang, was in charge of this program at the Oregon Department of Agriculture, the crop was considered "unacceptable" in terms of established norms for industrial hemp, and then germinated plants were completely destroyed, and the cultivation of other crops is suspended. The original program, launched in November 2014 in conjunction with the full legalization of recreational cannabis varieties, was met in the state with great enthusiasm, however, despite these difficulties, the state government decided to temporarily suspend the cultivation of industrial hemp and not to abandon it completely. 24 months after entry into force of a permit for the cultivation of hemp malonarkoticheskoy in the state program on the development of technical konoplevodstva begin anew, with the issuance of new licenses for the cultivation since the beginning of February 2016.
Colleagues from North Dakota
Due to the changes made in the municipal legislation on agriculture state in 2014, North Dakota had the right to give its residents a practical study grants konoplevodstva, under the leadership of the local Ministry of Agriculture Development and educational institutions specializing in the study of agricultural sciences. 17 State farmers have already expressed a desire to participate in the development of konoplevodstva in Oregon to later return to his home state with useful experience of the new agriculture. Although the Oregon Department of Agriculture to support the candidacy is not every farmer, 11 of them are still able to come to Oregon to obtain practical experience in the conduct of work associated with the cultivation, processing and sale of industrial hemp.
One of the lucky ones, Brandon Koenig already can not wait start of the season of planting seeds of industrial hemp. Mr. Koenig himself for many years engaged in agriculture, and has experience in working with only the "traditional" crops such as wheat and hops, as well as working with animals, but not in the cultivation of cannabis malonarkoticheskoy. Nevertheless, he is very interested in acquiring valuable experience in konoplevodstve because this experience promises a simple farmer like him, big and quick profits. According to Mr. Koenig, who owns a farm in dry prairies in central North Dakota, hemp will give his farming tools for growth and development, the benefit of that in the US market, it is a hot commodity, while developing much faster and easier than many other food and industrial plants . "Many farmers in the Dakotas know Canadians who successfully cultivate industrial hemp, selling their crops for solid money. Not surprisingly, the proposal for the development of similar farms in the United States caught the attention of many farmers," said Koenig on this score.
Comment of the Association "Ukrainian industrial hemp"
Currently, only 1% of the US population are involved in agriculture and agribusiness in the United States. For comparison, in 1937, when opposition to competitive industries, supported by propaganda, Harry Anslinger, could then ruin widespread konoplevodstvo, agriculture in the country occupy about 30% of the US population. Nevertheless, in spite of such a small number of farmers, there is no doubt that the huge demand for industrial hemp a large number of industries (from the medical to the textile) help the most highly profitable agricultural sector has been revived in the United States, gradually spreading through the fields in each state.
