Cannabinoids may help in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease
Hemp can be extremely effective medicine to prevent disease development and manifestation of its symptoms in the early stages of the disease, as well as a safe means of preventing its occurrence.
The team of scientists from the Salk Institute published in the journal Nature Materials studies demonstrating that cannabinoids have the ability to destroy harmful protein accumulation in the brain nerve tissue, causing inflammation and destruction of its cells. This process can prevent occurrence of the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
The main objective of the study is to deepen the study of protein compounds, called beta-amyloid. Scientists have recently found that the protein accumulates on certain cells endings of brain tissue from people all suffering from symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
Beta-amyloid is accumulated on the nerve endings of the cells forming dense protein flap around the entire cell, resulting in inflammation and its inevitable destruction. Such accumulation of beta-amyloid on neurons is a clear marker for Alzheimer's disease. At the moment, scientists were able to establish that this compound is found in high concentrations in all people suffering from this disease, but it is still unknown how the substance interacts with brain chemistry in low content.
During the experiments, the researchers used a variety of medicinal substances to artificially grown neural tissue affected beta-amyloid, in order to identify the drug that can relieve the symptoms of neuronal inflammation. As established investigators, cannabinoid compounds have on the neurons of the most beneficial effects, destroying a strong accumulation of beta-amyloid, thereby easing symptoms and preventing premature death of nerve cells.
"Previously, the results of several studies, the medical community has assumed that the active compounds of hemp have a strong neuroprotective effect in Alzheimer's disease therapy," says Dr. David Schubert. "Our study found that cannabinoids are able to not only have a protective effect on nerve connections, but also to clear them from the excess amyloid beta, preventing inflammation and destruction of the nerve tissue of the brain."
As physicians believe, therefore, hemp can be extremely effective medicine in the prevention of disease development and manifestation of its symptoms in the early stages of the disease, as well as safe means to prevent its occurrence.

Current therapies only alleviate some symptoms, but do not allow to stop or slow the progression of the disease. The main symptoms of the disease is the gradual loss of human memory and mental abilities, which are a consequence of the gradual destruction of the individual layers of the brain tissue. In America, it affects about 5.5 million people from this disease, with the number suffering from dementia caused by Alzheimer's and memory loss is increasing every year. Due to the nature of the disease, the most effective method of treatment is to prevent its manifestation in general, what humanity might be able to help preparations based on the properties of hemp, demonstrating the possibility of treating this disease belonging to suck plant cannabinoids.
