At the Beijing Winter Olympics, hemp fiber was used to create luge and bobsleigh tracks.
Specially prepared hemp fiber, produced
with gentle technology, was needed to produce luge and bobsleigh tracks,
characterized by excellent integrity and surface quality. A unique high
performance hemp fiber reinforcement was selected for this project by an
international team of engineers and construction professionals. Special
reinforcement of the bobsleigh tracks was necessary due to the fact that they
are the first in the world to implement a 360-degree loop, which, as never
before, is subjected to loads during its passage by pilots.
Traditionally, on the eve of or during the Olympic Games,
the editors of the specialized electronic edition of national hemp growers are
looking for highlights that demonstrate the possibilities of using the hemp
plant in various aspects of the greatest event in the world of sports. We will
not focus on the therapeutic properties of cannabis, which are already widely
used by professional athletes to improve athletic performance. Let's focus on
the latest building technologies that are used around the world to make
exclusive sports facilities, the production technologies of which are based on
the use of the physical and mechanical properties of a plant.
It has already been emphasized earlier that at the London
Olympics in 2012, “ The use
of innovative hemp technologies ” was most effectively used to create
roofs (roofs), siding, floor coverings of various Olympic facilities built in
the British capital, including the Velodrome and the Aquatic Center. At the Paris 2024 Olympics, hemp concrete is planned
throughout for use in the construction of the Olympic Village .
Another example of the use of the exclusive strength
characteristics of hemp fiber was its use for the construction of luge and
bobsleigh tracks in preparation for the 2022 Winter Olympics. In particular,
about 27 tons of specially prepared hemp fiber "NForce-Fiber" was
used instead of special reinforcing plastic fibers as a concrete reinforcement,
from which the frame of the above sports facilities was made.
