The lower house of the Polish parliament voted to use hemp for medical purposes
In addition to the possibility of using for the treatment of imported drugs based on cannabis, this regulatory act allows the cultivation of psychoactive hemp, its processing, as well as the sale through the network of Polish pharmacies or specialized pharmacological institutions.
On June 23, the Polish Parliament approved by an overwhelming majority of parliamentarians a bill authorizing the use of psychoactive hemp for medical purposes. In addition to the possibility of using for the treatment of imported drugs based on cannabis, this regulatory act allows the cultivation of psychoactive hemp, its processing, as well as the sale through the network of Polish pharmacies or specialized pharmacological institutions.
To implement the legitimate right of Polish patients to purchase hemp drugs or the extracts necessary for treatment, a screening mechanism is provided for physicians with the necessary qualifications and for selling hemp drugs according to the prescription of a qualified medical professional.
Given the inadequacy of hemp raw materials of the appropriate quality, at the initial stages procurement of hemp ingredients outside Poland is envisaged, with their subsequent import and processing to eligible enterprises within the country.
Commentary of the Association "Ukrainian technical hemp"
In the original wording of the draft law to be submitted to the Saeima, it was envisaged that it would be possible to permit the cultivation of psychoactive hemp by patients for their own needs. However, in the final wording of the document, there are no such novels. In order for the adopted version of the law to become effective by Poland's saeima, it is necessary to approve this normative legal act in the upper chamber of the Polish parliament - the Senate.
