What does the “launch” of the largest primary hemp processing plant in the US by “Panda Biotech” signify?
The “launch” of such a large-scale project for processing hemp fiber in the US may indicate several trends that have been observed on the American hemp market over the past few years. Several manufacturing companies in the US are completing large investment projects for constructing facilities aimed at the primary processing of hemp raw materials, primarily straw and hurd. The emergence of significant volumes of hemp fiber and hurd in the American market in the coming years will likely lead to the “launch” of several production lines based on the unique properties of industrial hemp (such as light industry, construction, production of biocomposite materials, etc.).

The company “Panda Biotech” officially opened the doors of the largest hemp primary processing plant in the US on June 12 in Wichita Falls, Texas. This event was marked by a ceremonial presentation showcasing the innovative potential and economic prospects of the facility.
According to “Panda Biotech” President Dixie Carter, the plant requires a significant amount of labor. “When we reach full capacity, there will be 60–65 jobs here. But this is just the first phase of our project. Additionally, we are creating many ancillary jobs - in agriculture, transportation, etc. We need farmers from this region and area. Cultivating industrial hemp is a great way to earn money and become a good steward of your land.”
Mayor Short expressed enthusiasm about the potential impact of “Panda Biotech” on the local economy. “Considering the jobs being created at the plant and its potential for growth, we are very pleased to see manufacturing facilities right here in our city.” The construction of “Panda Biotech” production facilities represents a nine-figure investment in Wichita Falls, promising significant economic growth. “These are very good, competitive jobs. I mean, they are definitely not minimum wage jobs,” emphasized Mayor Short.

According to Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, “Agriculture has always been the glue that holds our state together. We have the most advanced technological equipment here, and we are poised to lead the country’s hemp industry specializing in industrial hemp production.”
There were many reasons why Wichita Falls was chosen as the site for this facility. “’Panda Biotech’ chose Wichita Falls in part because my family has owned a ranch nearby for almost 20 years. So, we feel at home in Wichita Falls,” said Ms. Carter during the plant’s opening.
Commentary from the Ukrainian Technical Hemp Association:
With the capacity to process about 10 tons (22,000 pounds) of hemp fiber per hour, “Panda Hemp Gin” is the largest industrial facility for decorticating hemp hurd in the Western Hemisphere and the second largest in the world.
