Another Canadian university sees the need for training cannabis
There is a huge number of areas of management where cannabis can be used and will be studied in the framework of the hemp university course. The training will allow the qualified labor force prepared on the basis of UQTR to understand how the plant produces the ingredients necessary for the business, what their properties are and why exactly substances with known characteristics should be applied in a particular area of business.
University of Quebec at Trois-Riviera (L. Universit du Qubec Trois-Rivi res, UQTR) responded to a request from the country's cannabis industry by creating a new course in the biochemistry of hemp, as well as other herbal drugs.
Professor Hugo Germain (Hugo Germain) coordinating this project with her colleague Isabel Desgan-Penix (Isabel Desgagn-Pnix) claims that hundreds of Canadian companies are looking for specialists in this particular industry. Only in the province of Quebec there are dozens of companies that require competent hemp. For example, a large company for the production of cannabis, which is based in Louisville, is expanding its industrial capacity; it requires specialists of the appropriate profile; another firm needs employees for a plant for the processing of hemp raw materials, the construction of which will begin in the industrial park Trois-Rivires; we need employees of the company, whose production facilities are being built in the Industrial Park Béncourt (Bcancour), as well as Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover au that is in dire need of hemp specialists. Therefore, graduates of UQTR who will be trained in the field of modern hemp breeding will definitely not have problems finding work.
According to Mr. Germain, the know-how in the field of modern cannabis production, which will be developed on the basis of UQTR, can be applied in the future workplaces of students. At the moment there is a huge amount of knowledge in the field of hemp breeding, which was obtained experimentally during the period when hemp breeding was illegal business. Therefore, a huge reservoir of empirical data must be provided with a scientific rationale, which among other things will be handled by UQTR employees. Over the past two years, Québec hemp companies have raised the question of the need to train a skilled workforce that knows the plant, and also understands what processes are taking place inside hemp. A feature of the planned research at the university is their focus directly on the mechanisms of cannabinoid production by the plant, the processes occurring in cannabis, as well as on the methods of cannabisa cultivation. Other herbal drugs - this is exactly the part of the course that sounds due to the fact that UQTR plans to study the therapeutic properties of other Maca plants, ephedra, coffee, etc.
In turn, Professor Isabel Desgan-Penix emphasizes that hemp is characterized not only by healing qualities. Cannabis has powerful antimicrobial properties, using which you can, for example, make modern cleaning products. Other properties of the hemp plant also allow you to produce cosmetics, feed or dietary supplements, as well as many other products / products. There are a huge number of areas of management where cannabis can be used and which will be studied in the framework of the hemp university course. The training will allow the qualified labor force prepared on the basis of UQTR to understand how the plant produces the ingredients necessary for the business, what their properties are and why it is the substances with known characteristics that should be applied in a particular area of business.
According to Mr. Germain, students will need to understand the processes of biosynthesis that occur in coca plants, poppy seeds, etc., but the main focus of the course will be on hemp. The professor focuses on the fact that hemp contains a huge amount of cannabinoids. All of these molecules may not have psychotropic biological activity, which is of great potential business interest. It is precisely to study the properties of drug-free cannabinoids that our customers-cannabis are constantly turning to us. Students will participate in experimental programs aimed at studying the exclusive properties of the various components of the plant.
It is not by chance that the training of cannabis farmers and forensic examinations, which are held at UQTR, are located at the same faculty. It is therefore not surprising that there is already a research project related to the study of the therapeutic properties of cannabis. One of the students begins work on the study of cannabis in May as part of its master's program, coordinated by professor of criminology Frank Crispino.
Commentary of the Association "Ukrainian technical hemp"
A hemp group in a UQTR will consist of a maximum of 32 students due to the limited number of persons allowed to conduct classes in the laboratory. There are 18 places for students sent directly by cannabis enterprises paying a course of study to their future employees. In addition to subjects related to cannabisa and issues related to modern hemp breeding, the course includes lectures on drug addiction, drugs, medicinal plants, as well as the features of the biochemistry of the plants studied.
In our country, the only structure that holds such events on an ongoing basis is the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, which, together with the profile association of Ukrainian growers, will be in late March - early April once again conduct training activities for specialists in the field of modern hemp breeding in the framework of a joint project " Hemp University .
