Features of the use of cannabinoids in the pet business

heading_title

The use of natural CBD in the diet of animals in the form of feed additives, vitamins or feed provides them in the initial stages with faster muscle relaxation during seizures, which in turn leads to faster relaxation of pets after an attack, and eventually to their complete disappearance ... Older animals with musculoskeletal problems also benefit from herbal CBD as a dietary supplement primarily for normal joint function. For example, due to the analgesic effect of the above plant cannabinoid, dogs become more resilient and mobile.

On the pages of the specialized electronic edition of Ukrainian cannabis growers, attention was focused on “ How diseases of domestic animals in the United States are treated with therapeutically active elements of cannabis ”. For an explanation of mechanisms of influence at least of cannabinoids on the physiology and behavioral responses pets editorial called on national experts who are involved in the preparation of the panel of the round table "Use of hemp raw materials in pet industry" held within the framework of training the next course of students' hemp University ", to be held from April 6-8.

Recently, a lot of attention has been focused on the possibilities of using therapeutically active elements of hemp to improve the quality of life of people, however, in the economically developed countries of the world, a significant amount of resources are allocated to the study of the effect, in particular, of cannabidiol (CBD) on the vital activity of domestic animals. In Europe, the United States and Canada, several scientific institutions are studying the effect of various types of CBD products on improving the functions of cats, dogs, horses, and other pets.

The basis of this kind of research is the fact that the endocannabinoid system functions in the body of all mammals, and understanding the effect of various substances on it and, accordingly, the state of animals in connection with its normal functioning underlies the technological chains of production of feed, vitamin complexes, feed additives, and other products in which therapeutically active elements of the hemp plant are already used or are planned to be used.

Clinical studies conducted in economically developed countries of the world confirm the effectiveness of the use of therapeutically active elements of the hemp plant to improve the general physical condition or treat a number of animal diseases. Despite this, certain features of the use of various elements of the hemp plant in the course of their use in the zoo business have been identified.

In particular, in the course of using various types of products made on the basis of therapeutically active elements of hemp, it is necessary to make sure that the content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in them is extremely low. Animals cannot cope with the above psychoactive substance, which leads to changes in their perception, behavior and mood. Disorientation of the sensations of animals in the case of using a significant amount of THC leads to the refusal of cats, dogs, horses to accept products made with the use of a significant amount of the above substance, which negatively affects their attitude. At the level of instincts in animals, a reaction to a feeling of insecurity is triggered at the moment when their perception of the world changes due to the unusual reaction of the body to the above psychoactive substance. Insecurity presupposes mechanisms of protection laid down by nature against this kind of threat - a categorical refusal to use this kind of products in the future.

Another problem for animals is the fact that the metabolism of cats, dogs or horses is not able to break down tetrahydrocannabinol, which remains in the body and can provoke various kinds of negative reactions. At the same time, non-drug cannabinoids are also metabolized differently than in humans, but this does not lead to any effects that negatively affect the animal's body.

Studies in economically developed countries around the world indicate that non-psychoactive cannabinoids, in particular cannabidiol, can have relaxing, pain relieving and anxiety-relieving effects in both animals and humans. In particular, several groups of scientists from Canada and the USA have found that seizures in dogs with epileptic seizures can be significantly reduced by introducing plant-based cannabidiol into the diet. The use of natural CBD (CBD) in the diet of animals in the form of feed additives, vitamins or feed provides them in the initial stages with faster muscle relaxation during seizures, which in turn leads to faster relaxation of pets after a seizure, and over time to their complete disappearance.

Older animals with musculoskeletal problems also benefit from plant-based CBD as a dietary supplement primarily for normal joint function. For example, due to the analgesic effect of the above plant cannabinoid, dogs become more resilient and mobile.

Commentary of experts of the Association "Ukrainian technical hemp"

National experts carried out appropriate experiments abroad with pedigree dogs, as well as horses prone to epileptic seizures, bringing in their diet the leaves and flowers of technical hemp of therapeutic orientation of varieties included in the state register of plants suitable for distribution in Ukraine. The reactions of the animals were similar to those observed during experiments by specialists from Canada and the United States, and the regular use of therapeutically active elements of hemp as a feed additive leads to a significant improvement in the condition of the animals and to the gradual disappearance of epileptic seizures in them.
