The use of cannabinoid food products can help relieve various forms of pain

heading_title

Cannabinoid edibles may be a safe and suitable alternative pain therapy for those who want to replace traditional painkillers. The use of cannabinoid edibles significantly reduces chronic pain in acute phases of illness, as well as during long-term use. For example, THC-rich products are more effective for the fastest possible relief of pain in the acute phase. Frequent use of CBD-dominated cannabinoid edibles provides the strongest relief of painful depressions over a long period of time. In addition, the use of cannabinoid edibles over a long period of time can significantly improve the mood of patients experiencing chronic pain.

Dynamics of pain reduction experienced by patients as a result of long-term use of cannabinoid edibles

In economically developed countries of the world, research is actively conducted to study the effect of cannabinoid food products on various types of pain manifestations. For example, the University of Colorado (USA) initiated a study of the effect of cannabinoids used in edible form on pain relief, inflammation and cognitive dysfunction in patients with chronic pain. The findings of the experiments “Edible cannabis for chronic low back pain: associations with pain, mood and intoxication” were published in the journal “Frontiers in Pharmacology”.

Researchers at the University of Colorado evaluated the use of three different edibles (one that was predominantly tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), one that was predominantly cannabidiol (CBD), and one that contained similar amounts of THC and CBD) in 249 subjects with low back pain. The subjects used the cannabinoid edibles to relieve their pain for two weeks. The researchers assessed changes in pain intensity and subjective mood after the subjects completed the experiments.

Dynamics of reduction of pain sensations experienced by patients in the short term after consumption of cannabinoid food products

“Pain intensity after consumption of cannabinoid edibles decreased over time in all three groups of products,” the University of Colorado reports. The immediate reduction in pain intensity was most pronounced in patients who consumed THC-dominant cannabinoid edibles. CBD-dominant products were “primarily associated with short-term relief of tension” and were also effective for long-term pain relief.

Conclusion: Cannabinoid edibles may be a safe and suitable alternative pain therapy for those who want to replace traditional painkillers. The use of cannabinoid edibles significantly reduces chronic pain in the acute phases of illness, as well as during long-term use. For example, THC-rich products are more effective for the fastest possible relief of pain in the acute phase. Commentary from experts of the Association “Ukrainian Industrial Hemp”

Long-term follow-up data published in 2022 found that patients with chronic pain reduced their use of prescription opioids and reported improvements in their condition after being given the opportunity to regularly consume cannabinoid edibles.

The published information is especially interesting because after the introduction of CBD gels for joints and veins to the Ukrainian market , which also have the properties of relieving pain in local areas, the next to appear on the market will be an over-the-counter CBD drug for relieving pain in the lower back.
