The results of the ongoing studies demonstrate that cannabigerol (CBG) is both safe and effective in promoting skin health. CBG inhibits the release of proinflammatory cytokines from several inflammation inducers, such as ultraviolet radiation, chemicals, pathogens (bacteria, microbes, fungi). CBG reduces the level of reactive oxygen species in human dermal fibroblasts, has the ability to absorb free radicals and prevent oxidative stress. In addition, cannabigerol has a wide range of therapeutic properties, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and protective properties that help slow down inflammation, aging, water loss, promote additional hydration of the skin, improve its barrier function, and prevent the appearance of redness.
The study consists of the following sections
• analysis of the effect of cannabigerol on gene microarrays;
• the potential of CBG in improving skin health;
• how cannabigerol modulates key genes responsible for aging, hydration and inflammation of the skin;
• antioxidant activity of CBG;
• the effectiveness of cannabigerol in protecting against UV-induced inflammation and photoaging;
• how effective CBG is in protecting against chemical-induced inflammation;
• the potential of cannabigerol to protect the skin from bacterial-induced inflammation;
• the disruption of CBG adhesion of staphylococci to keratinocytes;
• the antimicrobial action of cannabigerol;
• the effectiveness of CBG in inhibiting the growth of pathogenic microorganisms;
• the potential of cannabigerol to inhibit biofilm formation;
• the ability of CBG to disrupt mature biofilms;
• the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential of cannabigerol;
• the ability of CBG to improve skin barrier function and reduce the appearance of redness;
• the potential of cannabigerol to moisturize the skin;
• the anti-inflammatory activity of cannabigerol;
• the evaluation of CBG as a preservative in cosmetic formulations;
• the effect of cannabigerol on skin microbiota.
