Brief Analysis of the Canadian Cannabinoid Market

Although the overall consumption of cannabinoid products has increased slightly compared to 2018, the number of Canadian consumers of CBD products fluctuates between 25-27 percent of the country's total population.

Since 2018, Health Canada has been collecting information on the medical and non-medical use of cannabis in the country. An analysis of the systematized materials published by officials of the “maple leaf” country shows segments and demonstrates certain trends in the Canadian cannabinoid product market, which will “launch” in our country from the second half of August 2024.


Non-medical use of cannabinoid products

Since 2018, Canadians have been asked annually about their use of cannabinoid products over the past 12 months. It should be noted that although the total consumption of cannabinoid products has increased slightly compared to 2018, the number of Canadian consumers of CBD products fluctuates between 25-27 percent of the country's total population.

CBD Products Used by Canadian Consumers 

Canadians who had used CBD products in the past 12 months were asked about the types of products they used during that time period. It notes that the three most common types of CBD products used in 2023 are dried flower or leaf (60%; down from 2018 and 2022); edibles (54%; up from 2018); and vape pens or cartridges (34%; up from 2018). They were followed by oral oil (26%; up from 2019 and 2022); beverages (19%; up from 2018); topicals (12%; up from 2019 and 2022); and concentrates or extracts (11%, down from 2018).
